The Gypsy Mama is hosting Five Minute Friday.
Here are the rules:
We just write. For five minutes flat.
Today’s topic is “If You Met Me”
GO.
If you met me, you would know I have a wildly crazy side. I REALLY met this guy in an elevator in 1996, and I REALLY married him 21 months later on the Fourth of July, just so we could have our own fireworks for every anniversary. REALLY.
You might probably ask me if we tried for a girl when you saw my tribe of boys. And I would sit you down and tell you all of the reasons I wanted three kids. It never occurred to me whether I might want a boy or a girl when I saw two lines on a pregnancy test.
You would know that I love to play cards...Hearts, Pinochle, and Spades. And yes, I am wildly competitive.
I love moments. I love experiences. I love people. They matter to me more than all of the money in the world.
STOP.
That was five minutes flat, except for uploading photos and formatting.
We may be kindered spirits. :) I was nearly married on July 4th in 1998. He and I weren't meant to be (though he was a great guy) but I loved the idea of having fireworks on every anniversary!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't every occasion deserve fireworks? :) By the way, that brown dress looks gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteSounds like we would have a lot of fun! You'd have to teach me the card games though. I have a competitive streak too!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting, adventerous life! I also enjoy cards - Spades and Gin Rummy are my favorites! I agree with Stephanie - the brown dress is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the energy of this post! I agree here: "I love moments. I love experiences. I love people." I love those blessed moments too!
ReplyDeleteI've met you... and I love you lots!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you got married on the the fourth of July so you could have an excuse for fireworks every year. :) It is a good thing that there are extroverted people other wise introverts like me would never talk to anyone! :) You sound like a very fun person.
ReplyDeleteWhy yes I DO think my nails look like a strippers. And it makes me giggle. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
ReplyDeleteI love that you met in an elevator. I love that you married on the 4th "just" for the fireworks. (I would so totally have done that, 'cept I married a man who could care less about fireworks. The TRAVESTY!) And about boys, I have 3 and I would say that, though girls have their own charm, I wished for a boy when pregnant with my last one. They're WAY more destructive but much less whiny. lol :D
Thank you for your kind words on my post. I always enjoy hearing how people met their spouse. And your story is especially endearing. :)
ReplyDeleteSee, there really is a lot to learn about a friend by letting her tell you how she met her husband. =)
ReplyDeleteI met my hubby at a church young adult group. We were casual friends for awhile before both getting invited up to a mutual friend's cabin and one night it was the two of us watching stars out on the dock. We started dating shortly after that and we still watch the stars. Thanks for asking!
This is a great post! I learned something new about you today. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDelete"They matter to me more than all of the money in the world." Wonderful! I agree. :)
ReplyDeleteYour family seems so awesome! It would be a blessing to meet you one day!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the opportunity to get to know you better. My favorite part: that you met your hub in an elevator...that is so fun! My birthy is on the 4th of July -- a great day to celebrate getting one year old (my dad used to tell me he got all the fireworks and the parade and the town carnival just for me...which sort of explains why I expect a major big deal on my birthday every year!).
ReplyDeleteI would like to meet you...you sound like a lot of fun! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd since I've met you, I know I want to be friends with you for life!! :) Love you friend and LOVE that pic of you and Dr. Romance!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family! You sound like a lot of fun to meet and we have some stuff in common...3 kids, Spanish language, and a stint of living in HI! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I don't know how to answer questions people ask, so I just posted another comment after yours on my blog. Yay! I'll be back again to see you!
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to mention that you always refer to California as the "Promised Land" ;) - love you my friend!
ReplyDeleteYou are so cool! Really, I mean that.
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed--I have a hard time talking to anyone on the elevator. Recently, I've forced myself to act friendly and at least say, 'hello.' I don't know what my problem is; I find elevators so awkward, so you're my hero for marrying someone that you met on one! ;)
ReplyDeleteI remember that wild side in college and the first fireworks at your wedding....You have a beautiful family! Miss you!
