Fridays are the days we take it easy in Hawaii. We call it Aloha Friday, much like what folks on the mainland call TGIF. I post a question, and you comment. That's it, unless you want to ask your own question at An Island Life. My question is:
What would be the one thing you would do this weekend if you were moving out of state?
After nearly four glorious years in Hawaii my husband and I have chosen to make a very difficult move from Hawaii back to California. We have loved Hawaii and consider it home more than anywhere else. We have not lived in CA for nearly nine years. This is our very last weekend in Hawaii. However, I have such a back log of posts I will be posting about Hawaii a bit longer. With the tropical storm brewing, and the threat of an island wide power outage, I am not sure exactly how we will spend the weekend. But I know we will spend it together.
I think it would be going around and visiting all of my friends and family - since I probably wouldn't be seeing them much for awhile.
ReplyDeleteI would eat as many local oddities as I could, pack the local spices and ingredients I could take along, and look at the local things that were unique until my eyes were too tired to see, storing mental memories. And for sure I would be with family and friends while I was doing all that looking!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bittersweet time for you, good memories behind you, good memories ahead, but a tough weekend at the moment, I am sure.
i need the sunshine posts to live vicariously through you!
ReplyDeleteYour state yours or mine?
ReplyDeleteIf I was leaving Hawaii I would be spending my last few days at the beach or by the pool. Having the hotel staff bring me fruity drinks with paper umbrellas!
If I were leaving Virginia I'd be wishing I was in Hawaii hanging out at the beach and pool :). Did I mention that it is friggen cold here today? You would totally die if you were here - it's 10 degrees for heaven's sake.
My Last Weekend in Georgia....O how you tempt me with SUCH a Fantasy! I would be jumping for JOY and asking could we leave early!
ReplyDeleteI can not wait to hear HOW you spent your Last Weekend in Paradise! I am eager also to hear about the transition of going HOME again after 9 years! Take lots of notes as I see that transition in my Future...it has been 10 years since I left Virginia! LOL
Have a great weekend and I will think of you often this weekend!!
I think I will say dito to Tami's comment! I would be doing my part to leave early. It would be great to spend a night at the Biltmore between our current and new place.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely go visit all the sites I put off visiting thinking I would get there sometime. I wish I had done that before we moved from Wyoming. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI would cheer and dance if it was someplace I really wished to move to . . . like Spain, Israel, Hawaii. :)
ReplyDeleteIf we were leaving our home in Florida, I would spend as much time on my deck as possible, go to the Wildlife Hospital where I volunteer and say goodbye to the staff and patients, and of course say goodbye to my friend, Diana.
ReplyDeleteIf I was leaving my state, FL, for the last time I would probably go to the theme parks
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your time here. Isn't it crazy about the power outages.
ReplyDeleteCome back and visit =)!
Eat at my favorite local restaurant!
ReplyDeleteIf I were leaving Rhode Island this weekend, we would go outside and play in the snow, eat clam chowder, go see the ocean, and hang out with friends.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my place earlier today. How adorable that your guy thanks God for minutes! = )
that's a toughy... i guess spend it with my family, since they live here...
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your move..
I'd probably enjoy time in my home and with my family who all live around here.
ReplyDeleteSince my family is mostly local I would spend a lot of time with them. Good luck with your big move now that the decision has been made.
ReplyDeleteI would be running around saying good by to everyone since it would be awhile again before I saw them.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the move.
I probably would spend time at my favorite places and with my favorite people!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your move!
I just moved 4 months ago, so I know what you're going through. I spent my last weeks at the old place visiting with as many friends as possible and as many times as possible! I also made a point to visit all my favourite spots and took LOTS of pictures.
ReplyDeleteBellows, North Shore, and Costco (you are the Farmers, after all)
ReplyDeleteI would take the kids to see the Nations Capitol, Ottawa Ontario!
ReplyDeleteI would have a dinner party for my best friends.
ReplyDeleteI'd visit with family and go nto the beach. I'm in California and would have a hard time leaving.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful weekend and that your move goes smoothly.
Yes, that is pretty much the EXACT itinerary 6 way intersection!
ReplyDeleteI would visit my favorite places and eat one or two of my favorite local dishes.
ReplyDeleteI'd probably spend the time with family, since I'd be leaving them all behind. We could go to the beach or an amusement park.
ReplyDeleteWe would be surrounded by family, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteBeing that I am a Canadain living in Michigan we have still not seen all the sights that this state has to offer. I would probably head to the Upper Pennisula of Michigan and visit the Grand Hotel, or go to Lake Michigan shoreline.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you enjoy your last weekend in Hawaii. I know it will be bittersweet to leave such a beautiful place. If the storms allow, spend a moment enjoying the sunset on the beach!
Thanks for visiting my blog, come back and visit soon!
if i were moving out of state, i would def go to our childrens museum...it's one of the best anywhere!
ReplyDeleteHows everything going? Getting settled? DP
ReplyDeleteOh where, oh where did my bloggy friend go?
ReplyDeleteOh where, oh where could she be?
Stalked over to let the FARMERS KNOW that we are thinking about YOU guys and hope that you are having a great Transition back to the BIG ROCK! Take care my friends!
