Aloha Friday #9

Fridays are the days we take it easy in Hawaii. We call it Aloha Friday, much like what folks on the mainland call TGIF. I post a question, and you comment. That's it, unless you want to ask your own question at An Island Life. My question is:
Do you have a favorite museum or nature interpretive center near you?

The major museum collection for the state of Hawaii is at the Bishop Museum and they have great exhibits! This week end I am posting about the shark exhibit.

  1. The College Football Hall of Fame. Does that count? Actually, I am far more impressed with Joshua Tree Imports (a couple of mile from home) with their personal museum of ancient artifacts.

  2. May I add an s on the end of museum and share a few of my favorites instead of just one? It is too hard to narrow it down, since we are so close to the Nation's Capital which as you are well aware is overflowing with wonderful museums and monuments.

So my top three would have to be The International Spy Museum, The Newseum & The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

  5. When my parents come this Christmas we are going to The Museum of Natural Science here in Houston. They are hosting an exhibit called The Birth of Christianity. They will have a section from the Dead Sea Scrolls and other artifacts that have been excavated from Jerusalem and surrounding areas.
I'll blog on it after we go next weekend.

  6. I'm in such a small area that there's not really anything like that around. I miss when I lived in the Chicago suburbs. There was something of everything in any direction.

  9. We just moved to a new city, but my favourite place so far for me and the kids is "The Telus World of Science." They have great exhibits and are about to open one called "The Art of the Brick." It's giant LEGO creations I can hardly wait to see it! They also have an IMAX theatre with a lot of great shows.

  11. The State Museum is really great here. We recently took the boys there for an event held within it. Of course all time favorites are a drive to the Boston Museum of Science.

  12. The Mennonite Heritage Museum is in the area, and they have an old windmill (this one now is a replica, but the original which burnt down due to arson, was actually from Duetchland, taken apart and brought here to be reassembled).

  13. I guess I would have to say the soon to be opened Education Center for CROW, the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife. It will open end of January but I've had a sneak preview and it is marvelous.

  14. We don't really have anything great close to us. The kids enjoy a museum for them that has a variety of different things about nature.

  15. Dayton doesn't have much to offer although it does have an Art Museum that I haven't been to. We like the Columbus Zoo (Jack Hanna's) and the Aquarium in Cinnciati. We also have the Air Force Museum at WPAB which the girls like.
