Mele Kalikimaka

Mele Kalikimaka, Feliz Navidad, and Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas to you from Hawaii and California! Joy to the World! The LORD is come!

Even though we did not send out Christmas cards this year, I told Hubs we HAD to take a family Christmas photo. I use our family's past Christmas cards as part of our decorations each ear. Well this year, I lost a lot of weight, and this was NOT the year not to send out Christmas cards!!! Mahalo to all of you that sent me a Christmas card to our old home address because they forwarded to my mom's address in San Diego. They brought me much warmth even though we are in hotel rooms! And if you STILL want to make me feel good and send me a Christmas card, you can send it to my old address, or via email.

Since I am in such a giving mood, we are going to play Guess that Waterfall. If you want to play along leave me a comment guessing the name of the waterfall in the picture. The first correct answer wins a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts.

We are in San Diego for ten days, part of the total sixty days we are in hotels. We are returning to Hawaii in a few days. I will swim every day when I get back for sure! I am freezing in San Diego. It is a thirty degree drop from Hawaii, landing us in the 50s right now. This is arctic for San Diego. It may not sound cold, but imagine a sudden 30 degree drop from your usual temperature.

  2. OK, I have to admit that I cheated and googled Oahu waterfalls but is this La'ie Falls??

And Mele Kalikimaka to you too, even though it is a day late. We are headed to SD in January for 10 days. I sure hope it's warm while we are there!

  3. I am going with Akaka Falls on the Big Island. We had our xmas card pic taken there in 2002.

Mele Kalikimaka...and I'd rather be in SD than IL right now.

  4. I do love San Diego, but then again, I've never been to Hawaii. ;)

Yeah, SD is chilly at this time of year. And the ocean is FREEZING.

Are you on the coast or inland? (I lived inland for 5 years and on the coast another 5.)

Weather here in Georgia on Christmas? Mid 60s and sunny. Weird. :)

    Mele Kalikimaka from GA!

  5. RAINBOW FALLS in Hilo, Hawaii. Oh, yeah. I pretty sure this Big Island girl is right... Am I???
    We miss you guys!

  6. Rats! We're guessing Rainbow Falls, too (even compared an old photo!), but we got beaten to it! Oh, well. I've eaten my fair share of mac nuts in my time...

Mele Kalikimaka to all of you! We miss you and the island. We TOTALLY understand how a 30 degree drop feels freezing. Our girls were wearing fleecy footy pajamas when we first got here... and it was practically summertime. It's some rough going getting an island baby adjusted to mainland living, even when that's California living!

  7. Beautiful picture. Won't venture a guess on the waterfall, since I'm pretty sure it's not Niagra Falls, I'm at a loss!

  8. Aloha to all!!! 6 Way Intersection wins! We are standing in front of Rainbow Falls on the Big Island. I told Hubs no worries on getting our car broken into when I saw a couple with a convertible with ALL of their luggage pull up next to us! LOL!

    I miss all of you!!!

Ohhh and we are living inland. I was born and raised in San Diego until I flew the nest at 18. So it is sort of a homecoming....but it has not been home for many, many years. Sniff sniff! I consider Hawaii home!!

  10. Hope you all had a great Christmas with the family! Can't wait to hear about your Christmas adventures... especially considering you've been hunting for appliances and other crazy stuff the past few days! Isn't that just like the Farmers though to look for a scaffolding/ extension ladder over Christmas vacation ;). So do the folks at Home Depot know you by name yet? If not, I am confident they are bound to soon!

  18. I have no idea about the waterfall,
but wanted to tell you Happy New Year. I know you all are in the middle of a huge transition. We also lived in a hotel 3.5 months when we moved to Texas. My girls were 5 and 18 months. Not the easiest time. All their toys were in storage.
Hope you get settled soon and enjoy living back in San Diego. It is really pretty there too.

    Joy

  19. Happy New Year -- and, by the way, you're IT! You've been tagged in a listing game -- this is not my fault, I didn't ask to be tagged either. You are supposed to list 5 things you consider 'addictions,' and then tag 5 people to do the same. Trust me, although it might not seem like it, this means I like your blog!
