Stocking Envy

My buddy Kristen that lives in PA (I have a lot of buddies named Kristen in VA, CA, and HI, too) has these amazing Christmas stockings. They are 3.5 feet long, and they are beautiful. I have salivated over these red delights for over three years. My mother in love was going to make them for me this year. Until she looked at the price of material. I wanted mine just like Kristen's, made out of courdoroy material with the white cuffs and eyelet trim and red cord for names. You know, classic Christmassy. I distinctly remember Kristen's excitement when she got a deal on the price of material. I think it was even on clearance. Right. I believe her. When my MIL went to price the material for five stockings (no I am not pregnant, but just in case I want an extra) it was going to cost like $300. YIKES. And I was so envious I even considered telling Hubby I didn't care if we dropped 300 bones on these things. But I thought the better of it.
Then our mail showed up. And an etoys magazine was back side up in the mailbox. I grinned as I slid the magazine out of the box and toward me. There, on the back of the magazine was a 3 foot stocking for $4.99 with a $100 purchase. But it also stated that these stockings were $24.99 each. What a deal. I talked to Hubby when he got home, and I LOVE THAT MAN because he puts up with me and all of my Christmas nonsense....paganism, however you want to define it. (I come from a long line of Christmas decoration freaks...generations of us. Have you ever been to my mom's house for Christmas? Forget it. Have you ever been to my grandmother's house?? You haven't lived until you have seen her house for Christmas.) So Hubby went to purchase the stockings...and guess what??? At checkout time they were only $12.99. He was jumping for joy. Figuratively. Anyway...they are on their way, folks!!!!! And no longer do I have to confess sin over stocking envy!!!

  1. I'm an etoys fan myself. Did you see the snoppy snow cone maker? It is exactly the same one we had as kids! Very cool. Do you know if we still have ours or did Mom and Dad give it away?

  3. That's a big stocking. Maybe I should get one for my cat--I'll tuck her in the stocking every night when she goes to bed.
