Hubby and I grew up believing in Santa, and have lived to tell about it. We both grew up in Christian homes, and don't feel it caused a spiritual demise. However, as of now, we haven't taught Son1 about Santa. Clearly, he knows the man in the red suit. He is in most stores. But that is the extent of it. We see him as pretend and make believe. And Son1 makes believe a lot of other stuff, anyway. We don't teach him Santa is real. We won't say that if he has been good Santa will bring him toys. We won't tell him that Santa knows whether he has been naughty or nice. Omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence is reserved for God.
That being said...
I saw these little wind up toys at Wal Mart. I bought just one helicopter and and plane to start for $2.00 each. Son1 went nuts over these things. They provided hours upon hours of entertainment for a couple of days. Then I started wondering why I didn't pick up the snow mobile and choo choo train. So my mom and I scoured two Wal Marts, looked inbetween nooks and crannies and under shelves to find random wind ups. Some will go to friends at preschool. I WISH I would have gotten the choo choo train wind ups. But they are sold out. The smoke stack goes up and down. All of the wind ups turn in different directions, too. NOW...if anyone sees choo choos like these at their Wal Mart...can you PLEASE buy me two choo choos, and we can settle up later?

My little guy knows about Santa but we have not either said he will be bringing you toys. Infact my husband has a Family Christmas Day on Sunday and each family is to bring a gift for their child wrapped for a Santa to give to that child...??? I totally did not agree with that and I during the planning phase of this I asked the other parents why would we want to have a Santa dressed up giving out toys to our children weeks before christmas not to mention the fact that I did not want my children to think that Santa was giving this gift.. THIS WAS NOT WELL RECIEVED BY THE OTHER COMMITTEE MEMBERS WHO TOTALLY THOUGHT I WAS NUTS. Yep so they voted to hire a man to play Santa and each family is to wrap a gift from 10 to 20 dollars for their own children. I just do not agree and I know I sound like an awful mom but WHY would they vote to do this? I still here still trying to figure out if what to do for Sunday.
ReplyDeleteok the end of my comment got all confusing as a 2 year pulls on my arm
ReplyDeletehave a great Day
Echo all you said....and yeah, my sis has tried the Santa thing 2 years in a row and her child is frightened of him and having his picture taken...both years screamed his head off...wonder if that will happen at your Christmas party....don't we all want Peace On Earth?
ReplyDeleteOne son liked the Santa and was over joyed by the gift Santa Gave him (I totally disagree with this) and son2 hated the Santa thing. I am from Virginia and I never ever had a gift from a Santa b4 Christmas. Here in the South it is seems that it is the normal thing to hire a Santa and give a gift wrapped toy for him to give to your child...TOO WEIRD FOR ME. I am such the outcast here...But anyway it went ok but next year I am already planning an out for me and my boys so I will not have to do this again...uggg lol lol
